Happy New Year to our clients and friends!
This past year has been very eventful for our small company!
With the support of our Board of Directors and team we opened our new Fairfax Hamaker outpatient clinic in June. Our larger custom-designed space has enabled us to add innovative, advanced equipment so our clients can push their limits for even greater gains during their sessions! In 2023 we added:
Solo-Step Harness Overhead Support System
Slip-Trainer which allows us to safely train clients in reactive strategies that are key to reducing falls.
Torque Functional Strength Training Unit.
Overhead suspension supports to improve safety when using treadmills and working on balance.
Our new open gym space allows us to offer more group classes for our clients. With the support of the support of the Inova Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Center (IPMDC), we have been able to expand our class offerings to include:
We continue to offer our Move Big with Power class in partnership with the Parkinson Foundation of the National Capital Area (PFNCA). We truly value working with these great area non-profits!
Our Chantilly clinic also added an overhead suspension and continues to offer the “Stand Tall and Speak Loud” class with the support of IPMDC. We are looking forward to adding even more classes in 2024!
We continue to value our longstanding partnership with the Virginian CCRC as the community continues to evolve. The building’s renovations are wrapping up and there are so many lovely functional spaces throughout the facility. Our therapy team at The Virginian has grown and continues to serve the residents with one-on-one therapy services at all levels of care.
Our clinical team’s commitment to learning and providing therapy with the most current, evidence-based practices continued through 2023. Several of our clinicians achieved advanced certifications helping us grow our clinical programs even further. Four therapists became certified in the BoneFit method to treat osteoporosis. One of our Occupational Therapists earned his certification as a Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist (CSRS), and another therapist became certified in treatment of pelvic floor disorders. Our Vestibular Disorders/Dizziness Treatment Program will be further supported with another certified vestibular therapist in January of 2024!
Our team continued their commitment to serving our community by participating in the Fairfax County Dept. of Social Services annual Giving Tree. Because of the generosity of our clients and team members, we made the holidays a little brighter by purchasing gifts for a family of 6 in Fairfax. We also supported two local food banks with donation boxes at all our clinics this fall.
Every year, our team gathers to review our mission, vision, and core values. Below is our list of our goals and plans for 2024. We look forward to moving confidently into 2024 with the following goals and plans!
We will continue to build our therapist and wellness team members’ expertise with advanced training and access to the best evidence-based technology for treatment.
Our wellness programs will continue to offer a variety of options, both group classes and one on one, with plans to add several new classes. We welcome your input, so please tell us what classes or wellness programs you want to participate in. Give us your suggestions!
We will continue to support and partner with like-minded organizations, such as the Parkinson Foundation of the National Capital Area (PFNCA), Inova Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Center (IPMDC), the MS Society, Fairfax County Department of Social Services, the Alzheimer’s Association, to name a few. In addition, we will continue to support the excellent physician practices in our area.
We will continue to improve our clinic technology with a new Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system to improve both our therapist’s efficiency and our ability to respond even more quickly to our client’s appointment needs.
Thank you for bringing us into your lives in 2023. We consider our clients to be part of our family. We look forward to our continued partnership in your health goals in 2024! Please feel free to contact me at any time as we move forward.
